How was Lightway Crystal developed?
Standard tubular skylights show good results and the building market welcomes the new possibility of lighting with daylight. The Lightway company has been manufacturing tubular skylights since 2000. A product which yields the interest of long term cooperation with specialists in the field of the physics of daylight. New production technologies enable further evolutionary type of tubular skylight as the means of capturing and conveying daylight.
Intelligent Ray Catcher Glass - IRCG
Intelligent Ray Catcher Glass – IRCG technology is used for the production of the roof dome for the new Lightway Crystal. It is based on the use of sodium – potassium glass, antireflective layers and a special shape. The aim is to improve the properties of the dome of the new Lightway Crystal. The new technology is represented in the design of the light diffuser made of glass and provided with antireflective layers containing titanium oxide.
The main objectives of IRCG:
- to catch and concentrate daylight
- to improve transmission and transparency of the dome
- to improve the self – cleaning ability and washability of the dome
- to increase durability and unchangeability of the dome
Low Reflection Surface
It is a feature IRCG technology. Low reflection of the surface of the dome catching light and the light diffuser of sodium - potassium glass guarantees the maximum light output of the tubular skylight. The reduction of the reflection compared to common plastic products is guaranteed by the special shapes of Lightway components and antireflective layers containing titanium oxide. The ability to catch and concentrate daylight of the Crystal dome is 30 % higher than of tubular skylights which start with a window on the roof. The Lightway Crystal light diffuser in comparison with plastic diffusers reduces back reflection up into the tube by 15%.
High Transmitivity Sodium - Potassium Glass
Sodium – Potassium glass is an excellent material from the optical point of view. The ability to transmit daylight spectrum is crucial percentages higher than with plastic materials. The Lightway Crystal dome and light diffuser are made of highly transmissive sodium potassium glass.
